The flowers are created with “Frit” (granular glass), the vines & leaves are made from “Vitrograph” (previously hand-pulled strings of glass) and the bobbles are “Murrini” pieces (previously hand-pulled cane with a formation-design, hand snipped) . The design of the dish is created and fired on a flat kiln shelf (at approx. 1450* F) to fuse all the pieces together. The 2nd firing is at a lower temperature (approx. 1240* F) within the kiln, glass is “slumped” into a mold to take on the form of the dish.
We always recommend hand washing and FG is never used in any type of oven.
